Stephen Wellman Joins Summit Professional Networks as Vice President of Digital Strategy

Digital content, community and media executive will lead digital strategy across company’s core products

New York, NY, January 23, 2014 – Summit Professional Networks today announced that Stephen Wellman has joined the company as Vice President of Digital Strategy, a new organization-wide position. He will report directly to CEO Steve Weitzner, leading strategic initiatives across Summit’s digital products, including online, mobile, social media and information services.

Wellman is a 16-year veteran of the digital marketplace, most recently serving as Vice President and Editor-in-Chief at Slashdot Media, where he helped transform pioneering online brands like Slashdot and SourceForge. During his time at Slashdot, Wellman was instrumental in a number of initiatives, including launching original editorial, forming the company’s first mobile site, overhauling email newsletters and bringing online video to the sites.

Prior to Slashdot Media, Wellman served as Senior Vice President of Community & Content at Ziff Davis Enterprise and also held a variety of online roles at the UBM Tech division of United Business Media. Before that, he was one of the first employees at FierceMarkets, where he served as the company’s first editorial director overseeing a number of leading online brands, including FierceWireless and FierceBiotech.
